Experienced Water Resources Management Consultant | Policy & Technical Expert With over 25 years of global experience in water resources management, I provide technical and policy support in integrated water resources management (IWRM), water governance, and transitions in water and agriculture. My expertise spans water management & hydrology, irrigation & drainage, flood control, and water quantity & quality management. Since October 2008, I have been working as an independent consultant, supporting organizations in navigating complex water challenges. Based in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, I primarily work on national projects but also contribute to international initiatives across Europe, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Caribbean. My clients include national and regional governments (ministries, provinces, water boards, and municipalities), drinking water companies, agricultural and horticultural organizations, agribusiness partners, and NGOs focused on nature development. Additionally, I serve(d) as an advisor to the World Bank, FAO, GIZ, SDC and ADA. I frequently share insights at international conferences and enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams. Areas of Expertise • Project & Process Management Leading complex IWRM projects, including River Basin Management implementation in Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, and India, and EU Water Framework Directive (WFD) implementation for the Rhine and Meuse rivers in The Netherlands. Senior advisor for the Dutch National Delta Program (water availability) and the Delta Program on Agricultural Water Management. • Policy Advisory & Decision Support Advising regional and national governments on water governance, integrated water management, water quality, river basin management, water quantity, freshwater supply, water safety, and risk management. Expertise in monitoring & evaluation, evacuation planning, and the operation & maintenance (MOM) of irrigation and drainage systems. • Technical Advisory & Project Management Providing strategic and technical guidance for water programs and international water projects. • Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation Leading workshops, discussions, and stakeholder meetings to drive collaboration and knowledge exchange. • Hydrology & Water Management Offering expertise in hydrology, flood control, irrigation, drainage, and water quantity management.
