Background
About Stewart Kirkpatrick
I am a leading campaigner, strategist and expert in targeting key messages to multiple target audiences across all platforms using great content. I am also highly skilled at setting up, building and leading teams, as well as effectively engaging with stakeholders. I am an expert in public engagement, digital marketing and media management. I established the Scottish office of mass digital campaign organisation 38 Degrees, winning several high-profile campaigns, mobilising tens of thousands of people. I designed its Scottish strategy, building partnerships and transforming its profile with the public, decision-makers and the media. I have also led a large number of successful UK-wide campaigns and major transformational projects focused on reputation and impact. Previously, I was the Head of Digital for Yes Scotland, establishing and building its digital team. The highly praised digital campaign grew Facebook likes from to more than Twitter followers from to YouTube views grew from to Website traffic quadrupled and I built a very large committed team of online volunteers. The digital campaign played a key role in increasing support for independence by 20 percentage points. Previously I was Editor (as well as part-owner and director) of The Caledonian Mercury, Scotland's first truly online national newspaper. I was named "Multimedia Publisher of the Year 2010" in the Regional Press Awards and the Caley Merc was 'Highly Commended' in the UK Newspaper Awards 'Best Digital Service' category - coming joint second with The Guardian and beating the Telegraph and WSJ.com. While I was Editor of scotsman.com from July to May 2007, traffic increased tenfold, the site was one of Google News's top 30 sources and it won and was shortlisted for many national and international awards. The UK Press Gazette named me as one of the top 50 people shaping online journalism.
