Managing a portfolio of small business borrowers is a lot like managing a high school senior English class in the second semester. Some folks already have the grade they need to graduate, whereas some need to do extra work to get caught up. The end goal is the same - get to the finish line.But in business, what is that ever-elusive finish line? Is it being "successful" with your company? What does that even look like? Every business is different, therefore every borrower is different. I help my borrowers when they need assistance, and I guide them through requests from me, as their lender's representative. Whether it's managing loan covenants, reporting on financial stability, or determining (and mitigating) risks, I am there with my borrowers from the time their loan closes until they send in that final payment. I take great pride in getting to know my clients, get on a first-name basis and dig into their "why" behind the "what." After all, they're not just a loan number. They are people with hopes and fears just like me. With small businesses as the backbone of the American economy, it's important to serve them with dignity, respect, and a passion for doing what's right.
