About Stuart Bell

I am a geologist with 15 years experience in the consulting industry. My areas of experience include hydrogeology, environmental science, project management and geotechnical engineering related to site investigation, earthworks, foundations, mine remediation and geotechnical design and reporting for structural, civil and transportation schemes. I am familiar with Alberta Tier 1 and Tier 2 guidelines and the Saskatchewan Environmental Code. I am also proficient in logging soils and rock to ASTM standards for soil and rock and Eurocode 7 standards, including BS5930, BS EN 14688 and 14689. Exploratory techniques utilized during various site investigations that he has experience with include auger, cable percussive, rotary and sonic boreholes, test pitting, dynamic probing, peat probing and rock mapping. Knowledge of on-site testing includes CBR, soakaway tests, pump testing, falling and rising head tests, redox/resistivity in hand dug inspection pits and packer tests. My project experience includes the production of Phase I and II environmental reports, hydrogeological and geological site investigation reports, preliminary sources study reports (PSS), geotechnical investigation reports (GIR) and geotechnical design reports (GDR). I have experience in the design, management and supervision of hydrogeological, environmental and geotechnical investigations carried out for contractors, central government bodies, local authorities and private sector developers. I have been managing projects as a PM since 2018 - primarily annual groundwater monitoring programs and landfill consulting services for clients in Alberta and Saskatchewan. I have been based in Edmonton, Alberta for the past nine years and worked on projects across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Prior to this my career was based within Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England. I have also had the opportunity to be involved with the supervision of ground investigations and to provide on-site geotechnical support for a large scale flood prevention scheme in Saudi Arabia in 2010-2011. Software I am familiar with includes; Rockworks, gINT, Aquifertest, Surfer, Slope/W and Microsoft Office.
