About Stuart Edgell

I have been an officer of the NSW Police Force from May 1996 to May 2024. In 2004 I was appointed to the rank of Sergeant. Throughout my career I have worked at Police Commands within the Sydney area. I have recently taken an optional redundancy package from the New South Wales Police and in the last six years of my policing career I was the Lead Educator within the Custody Training Unit. While I have predominately worked in General Duties and Education and Training, I have also had the opportunity to relieve in a higher rank as Acting Inspector. I possess a demonstrated ability to independently research, investigate, and analyse complex issues, ensuring compliance and enforcement actions are executed to the highest standards. I am adept at managing or supporting investigations from inception to conclusion, adhering closely to organisational procedures and governance frameworks. My communication skills, both verbal and written, are robust, allowing me to effectively engage with diverse audiences and convey information persuasively. I have experience in obtaining lawful samples of goods for laboratory testing and ensuring procedural integrity throughout. I excel in collaborative environments, contributing effectively to team efforts and engaging with stakeholders such as law enforcement and health agencies. My capacity to manage and interact with witnesses and entities under investigation underscores my commitment to thorough and fair investigative practices. As the chair of WHS in a police command I attained a very high level of achievement over a four-year period. I completed numerous risk assessments in custody settings in NSW Police locations. I can attain a Diploma of Work Health and Safety. I have a strong focus on WHS and strive to meet WHS organisational requirements. Furthermore, I possess strong organisational abilities, enabling me to plan, prioritise, and deliver high-quality outcomes amidst dynamic workloads. I am adaptable to travel requirements, including at short notice, for investigations, training, or other operational needs.
