PROFILE: I'm an experienced software engineer (over 25 years, spanning many household names). I'm an experienced middle and senior-level manager at award-winning firms. I'm an experienced recruiting manager. I'm an international conference speaker and trainer. I'm a published author. I'm a volunteer Visiting Industrialist at a UK university. I've been a business analyst. I've been a project manager. I've run software test / QA teams. I've done just about every role you can hold in an engineering department over the years, including running one. I have endorsements for more skills than LinkedIn's limit of 50. As a developer, I regularly use many programming languages. I'm best known as a member of the PHP community. I enjoy working with C and NodeJS too. I prefer developing software for Linux servers, and Linux and OS X terminals. I've been involved in open-source software since 1994, and recent examples include Hubflow (http://datasift.github.io/gitflow/) and Storyplayer (http://datasift.github.io/storyplayer). Windows (using it or developing for it) isn't really for me. Outside work, I'm a qualified teacher of adults, and an instructor in Tai Chi. I do a lot of photography. I love writing and playing music.
