About Stuart Marshall

Stuart Marshall is a non-executive director at the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), where he chairs the ICT governance committee and has led the development of the first ICT strategy for the organisation. He is also a lead of interprofessional teamwork and crisis management at the University of Melbourne, where he supervises PhD students and lectures on simulation education, human factors, and patient safety. With a PhD in organisational psychology, he has a comprehensive approach to improving health care systems at both the organisational and worker level. As a specialist anaesthetist with over 15 years of clinical experience, Stuart has an interest in anaesthesia for complex airway management. He is also an experienced simulation instructor and has served on boards and executive committees of local and national simulation organisations. He has designed and tested guidelines and cognitive aids for medical emergencies that are now used internationally. He is the author of several patient safety courses tailored to specific groups and crisis resource management courses for critical care staff. He is passionate about enhancing patient safety and quality of care through human factors research and education.
