I have been a Salesforce developer for over 10 years. I have been tinkering with various coding languages for a lot longer than that. My Salesforce skills are all self taught. I started as an admin, and expanded my role as opportunities arose. When presented with a new project or business need that requires knowledge that I do not have, I take what I know, find the gaps in my knowledge, and learn what I need to complete the project. I have used this technique to learn phone systems, email systems, different reporting systems, as well as a number of programs. I take pride in not requiring formal classes to learn new skills. I really enjoy puzzles, so learning new skills is very much an enjoyable experience to me. In the past, I spent a lot of time working with Oracle Configurator. Translating the product and manufacturing logic and requirements into various entry forms and flows to ensure efficient and accurate order processing was a challenge that energized me. I worked with the Oracle Configurator for 10 years; a lot of that overlapping with my Salesforce developer roles at the time. Most of my work today revolves around Salesforce and various API integrations with other programs. When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing board games with friends.
