About Stuart Riddell

I’ve always been fixated on solving problems. Finding a solution and the best solution to someone’s query often fascinated me and naturally led me to study a Bachelor of Mathematics and Computer Science here at the University of Adelaide. Hence, I aim to graduate with a Major in Cybersecurity so I can make an occupation of that passion. Through these studies, I’ve learned a wide variety of skills, primarily an advanced knowledge of computer programming languages such as C++, Python, and Matlab, with a focus on Object-Oriented Design. This has been foremost applied in my contributions to open source game development as well as my own educational projects. In pursuit of a more foundational form of problem-solving, I’ve delved into Applied Mathematics so that I might supplement my coding skills with the mathematical background needed to design efficient and intelligent programs. While these technical skills form a basis for computer science, it wasn’t my own problems that captured me as much as those posed by others. In truth, my passion isn’t coding or maths. It’s people. The sense of friendship that comes from being able to form connections with people in a discussion—an ability that, along with my natural confidence, came in handy as I filled the position of secretary at my University’s Board Games Club—is something I strive to promote in all my interactions at University. In the same vein, there’s nothing as satisfying knowing I can apply my knowledge to help solve an issue that someone else might be baffled by. To this effect, I've commenced employment with the data solutions company Pernix to continue to help people by applying my knowledge.
