PJ Shipping Ltd - Customs & Excise Supervisor (Controlled Goods) 2008–Present During my 15+ years’ service I have successfully contributed year on year growth and development opportunities to our business. My role too has developed over this period. Initially employed as a customs broker handling controlled/excise goods under what then, was known as, REDS (Registered Excise Dealers and Shippers). With recent changes as a result of Brexit and HMRC software, I had taken it upon myself to ensure that, we as a business avoid the pitfalls that can arise with the facilitation of such goods and adapted where necessary, whether it be further adding to the policies in place or introducing new. My role involves heading a team in the controlled goods sector, maintaining the high standard of compliance within the business which is often acknowledged by HMRC. Handling the submissions of UK customs entries, disputes, legalities, and training. Freight Services Agency (Dover)- Customs Specialist 2012–2012 I took the opportunity alongside my current role to work a 9 month period within the Freight Services Agency. This was to obtain a greater understanding of the industry from the alternative aspect of which, assisted HMRC/Border Force in relation to the movement of Imports and Exports at the Port of Dover. This particular role, was alongside both HMRC/Border Force while working with Agents, assisting with the flow of traffic in relation to Customs Clearance formalities.
