About Subha Luitel

I am a third year Global Health student passionate about Reproductive Health, communicable diseases and Health Equity. My passion in Health Equity started when I was very young. When I used to watch news from a country in Global South about spread of lymphatic filariasis, swine flu, cholera, and tuberculosis, I used to witness people in Africa and South Asia facing difficulty to access healthcare, which I believe is a basic necessity for everyone. I grew up asking everyone around me why these differences exist. Never got my answer! Hence, I joined nursing school, so I can help sick people feel better, during COVID pandemic. Nursing school was an amazing experience that gave me an understanding of Social Determinants of Health (SDoH), something I became very passionate about. It also made me realize how much policies can make a difference in every individual’s life. However, slowly I realized I am driven by my emotions, because working with sick people during COVID became difficult. I wanted answer to my never answered questions as well, which made me question my choice of continuing my education. Therefore, I chose to drop out of Nursing school. After a year of career break, I chose to study Global Health and I finally found what I’m truly passionate about. Therefore, now I am actively seeking an internship in any organization where I can utilize research skills I have gained in my classes and where values align with my passion for providing Health Equity.
