About Sucheta Mitra

I’m Sucheta—a highly skilled, leadership-driven optometrist and a fully-funded doctoral researcher at Cardiff Metropolitan University with over eight years of clinical and academic expertise. My PhD investigates how targeted visual training can alleviate Meares-Irlen Syndrome (visual stress) and boost reading skills in primary school children across Wales. Holding a Master’s in Optometry and in Business management, I blend scientific rigour with people-focused leadership. As a Clinical Tutor at Cardiff University, I train the next generation of optometrists in advanced clinical skills. In my role as Doctoral Representative, I organise training, writing, and advocacy initiatives to help doctoral students during their journey.
