I have worked in multiple outpatient mental health clinics as a Licensed Psychologist.* I am currently building a Psychotherapy Private Practice that tailors to meet children, adolescents, and young adult's emotional health needs. I would like to work with children who need help learning life coping skills. These children typically present with low frustration tolerance, struggles with transitions, black and white thinking patterns, struggles problem solving, and irritable or labile moods. They may end up with diagnostic labels such as ADHD, autism or aspergers syndrome, attachment issues, bipolar, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or oppositional defiant/conduct disorders. Instead of focusing on the label, I focus on the skills needed and create a process for the child to learn them. This may include using play therapy (experiential play therapy), workbooks and skill building activities, talk therapy and collaborative problem solving, family therapy (parent and child), identifying helpful and unhelpful thoughts - feelings - and behaviors, and other interventions.
