About Suhail Farokhi

As a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario with a strong foundation in chemical engineering, I bring cross-industry experience in pharmaceuticals, pulp and chemical processing, and wastewater treatment. My work consistently revolves around driving safety, process efficiency, and sustainability in complex manufacturing environments. I hold a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from NIT Calicut and a Master’s degree from IIT Hyderabad, where I specialized in Catalysis and Alternative Energy. This academic foundation laid the groundwork for my problem-solving mindset and deep technical understanding. I began my professional journey at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, where I worked on the scale-up of critical APIs, including cancer treatments — conducting kinetic studies, FMEA, HAZOP, and using PAT tools to ensure safe, seamless technology transfer. At RYAM, I led cost-saving and process optimization projects in the High Purity Cellulose (HPC) mill, implemented real-time SPC monitoring tools using PI, and participated in annual budget planning. During the mothballing of the HPC unit, I took the lead on equipment line mapping and creating P & IDs to preserve operational knowledge. My current role in wastewater treatment challenged me with a steep learning curve — one I embraced fully. I now support the area manager, assist in troubleshooting, and work closely with the environment team to address infractions, including daphnia and trout toxicity monitoring. Known as someone who follows through, I’m a dependable team player who thrives in cross-functional settings. My strengths lie in process development, safety, scale-up, process monitoring, and continuous improvement. I’m driven by curiosity and committed to contributing to sustainable, efficient, and safe industrial operations — always ready for the next challenge.
