About Suining Ding

Professor, Author, and Scholar exploring the intellectual culture between art and science. Dr. Suining Ding is a Full Professor of Interior Design at Purdue University Fort Wayne. She is passionate about design for human health and well-being in the built environment. Trained in architecture and interior design, and having gained extensive experience in architecture, Dr. Ding is also a researcher. Dr. Ding’s areas of expertise include environment-behavior studies in the healthcare environment, evidence-based design (EBD), design process and design methodology, digital 3D modeling, architectural graphic communications, and cross-cultural comparison of architecture. Dr. Ding has authored six peer-reviewed and well-received books. In her most recent book, “Environment-Behavior Studies for Healthcare Design,” published by Routledge, Dr. Ding provides an overview of the core theories in Environment-Behavior studies, makes connections between EB studies and healthcare design, and explains how EB studies can contribute to healthcare design research and practice. Dr. Ding is also a designer. She is a Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certified interior designer. She also holds the Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) professional credential.
