About Sumati Joshi

I am a strategist who transitioned into philanthropy/social impact consulting after running a non-profit focused on the health of adolescent girls in India. I began my career designing workforce strategies and crafting employee value propositions for businesses with a focus on inclusion and responsibility. I applied these skills as I set up an NGO in 2016 and later transitioned to consulting other organizations in delivering programs, managing grantmaking portfolios, undertaking research, and publishing papers. After receiving a Master's in Global Affairs in 2021, I made a foray into philanthropy advising. Today, I split my time between Boldly Go and Afton Bloom, where I manage projects focused on building funder collaboratives for maternal and child health, convening funders on gender issues, and supporting high-impact strategy development for various individual, family, and corporate foundations and nonprofits. I am currently based in India and work flexibly across time zones. Beyond consulting, I’m actively involved with the Resolution Project, Diana Project, UNLEASH, and Schwarzman Scholars—communities that have profoundly influenced my dedication to social change.
