About Sumit Agarwal

I'm not supposed to be alive today. I was born with cerebral palsy, with 70% body restriction. I had to go through 4 surgeries, each one more difficult than the last. As someone who grew up isolated, I fell in love with human beings and what moves us to action. Truth is, on your deathbed, all you’ll remember are the people you’ve touched and helped inspire. This truth drives everything I do today. I have been privileged to forge relationships through my experiences with people from organizations like The United Nations, TiE, and many others. I have shared my journey with publications like Yahoo News, Forbes, News18, Fortune India, Telegraph, Business Standard, and many more with the hope of creating a world where diversity becomes a norm. Here is what I do: As a Diversity and Inclusion Advisor to Fortune 500 Companies, I've delivered insights and strategies and help create Policies for fortune 500 companies and more. I have spoken across prominent platforms such as TEDx, Josh Talks, Reliance, Monster.com, Siemens, IIT KGP, IIM Calcutta, and over 350 other venues. In my capacity as an Associate at Great Place to Work® Institute India (GPTW India), I play a pivotal role in connecting with Fortune 500 companies to recognize and celebrate employers who excel in creating exceptional employee experiences. My credibility is anchored in significant roles and recognitions that underscore my commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion: • I champion global goals for diversity as an SDG Ambassador, pushing for broader acceptance in communities and workplaces. • The India Diversity Forum values my input and actions, granting me a lifetime membership for my ongoing contributions. • My commitment is further seen in my lifetime memberships with the National HRD Network and the Indian Society for Training and Development, where I support the development of practices that celebrate diversity. • As the Election Commission SVEEP & PWD Icon, I am tasked with educating on the importance of voter rights and imparting electoral literacy to the youth. • At ICFAI, I am engaged in multiple roles including serving as an Adjunct Trainer, focusing on Alumni Relations, and developing Corporate Relations to provide placement opportunities. Each role enables me to nurture the youth in entrepreneurship and DEI, further contributing to my mission. • At AIF I help to certify companies Life goal: To help 1 million persons with disabilities thrive.
