About Sumit Saran

Sumit Saran, holds a Masters Degree in International Relations and a M Phil specializing in international food business. He has been especially trained in management and dissemination of agribusiness information in the United States and has over 15 years experience in managing and implementing various agribusiness projects in India and abroad. He is currently Director of SS Associates, a food marketing and consulting firm specialising in launching International foods in India. The firm represents Washington Apple Commission and Pear Bureau Northwest in India and is responsible for designing and managing promotions for Washington Apples and USA Pears. From March 2014- April 2018, Sumit Saran was Head of the International Food Business for Future Group, one of India's largest retailers. Responsibilities included leveraging relationships for setting up distribution channels for imported foods, establishing international tie-ups and handling international food promotions across the various retail formats that Future Group owns and operates. Before this Mr. Saran worked with The SCS Group, an agribusiness consulting firm that represented many international cooperator groups in Indian subcontinent. As part of the Group, he was involved in the launch of many major international foods in India. Before joining The SCS Group, Mr. Saran was head of the Agribusiness Information Center at FICCI, India’s apex Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has been speaker and panelist at a number of international events both in India and abroad and is a regular contributor to various publications on issues related to Indian agribusiness. Specialties: I understand the subtle nuances of promoting foreign food products in a country where more than 50% of 1 billion population is dependent on agriculture.
