With over 2 decades of experience as an optometrist and business owner, I still enjoy working with patients and owning what is now rare: a locally owned, single location private optometry practice. I started out working in the field of Optometry in high school, helping in my dad's optometry practice. I found it was not just an easy place to get a job (thanks Dad) but that I was really fascinated by how the eyes work and the many aspects of eye care. I also enjoyed helping the patients and working in a medical office environment, so I decided to make Optometry my career. I graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1995 and began working for another Optometrist in Austin. About a year later, I was presented with the opportunity to purchase that office from the doctor I had been working for. I hesitated at first because I planned to have children and raising them well would be my priority. Happily, it worked out! I've been the owner of Parmer Eye Care since 1996. I am happy that with the help of a fantastic staff and wonderful, supportive husband, I was able to be both a mom and optometrist/business owner. Our two adult daughters graduated from college (one A&M, the other UT!) and are working in their chosen career fields and still make time to hang out with Mom and Dad sometimes! Parmer Eye Care has flourished in the years since its beginning. We strive to provide excellent patient care and service at a reasonable price. I credit our office manager, as well as the whole staff with making Parmer Eye Care a place where patients are treated well and continue to return year after year.
