About Sungoh Hwang

Sungoh joined Samsung Research in He started his career as communication standard engineer and has been there more than 15 years before he moved to mobile communication division. In standard area, he had done the various role. his first role was 3GPP RAN 1 Physical layer and designed a few power control algorithms, block coding, MIMO algorithm, LB-TDD and more. He extended his area to 3GPP RAN 4 for RF performance testing and also covered 3GPP T1 for terminal protocol testing. He was also Samsung head of delegation for RAN 4 and T1 for 3 years. He finally moved to 3GPP RAN 2 for MBMS(Mobile Broadcasting Multi-casting Service in his 3GPP career. MBMS had the big impact on his standard career. Thanks to the excellent achievement in MBMS, he joined Open Mobile Alliance to design application layer standard for mobile broadcast service in 2004. He has been elected as Vice Chairman of OMA Mobile Broadcast WG(BCAST) in 2005 and was elected as Chairman in 2006 and continued his chairmanship in three consecutive term. Because of his outstanding activities in OMA BCAST, the award of outstanding leadership of OMA went to him in 2012. When he was in OMA, he was also the technical leader of Content Distribution, Digital Right Management, Device Management and Mobile Browser. Thanks to his experience in mobile broadcasting service, he expanded his area onto WiMAX MCBCS,DVB NGH and ATSC 2.0. He also extended his technical area onto the next generation of multimedia transport at MPEG. He wrote more than of contributions and 200 patents that some of them was selected as international standard in 3GPP, OMA, DVB-NGH, ATSC and MPEG. He had moved to Samsung Mobile communications divisions as the individual contributor for Knox Government certification in the middle of 2014 and led Knox Framework from DEC 2014. He improved MDM, Knox License and Knox VPN framework to meet B2B customer's requirement with his colleagues and also contributed the usability of Knox SDK such as One SDK. He jumped into Knox Cloud Solution area and his first achievement was Knox Mobile Enrollment. He launched the various Knox Cloud Solution such as Knox Configure, Knox Guard, Knox Enterprise FOTA, Knox Asset Intelligence, Samsung Care + for B2B. He has been leading all technical activities for Knox cloud solution as the global KCS leader since 2018.
