About Sunil Mehra

I joined as a Research Scholar in the Thermal and Fluid Transport Laboratory (TFTL) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Patna in 2019. Prior to this, I was a Project Staff at the TFTL working on an MHRD & DST Sponsored project under the UAY Scheme. I have earned a couple of years of experience in designing air conditioning systems while working at the Research and Development Center at Bluestar India Pvt. Ltd. I received an M.Tech degree in Mechanical (Thermal) Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2013 and B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from the YMCA institute of Engineering Faridabad in 2011. As a Research Scholar in TFTL at IIT Patna, I work on the "Biomass Gasification based heating and cooling off-the-grid solutions for farm perishables". Under the UAY Scheme, we have successfully designed a Biomass gasification-based hot water generator (a Patented and commercialized Product). Under the IMPRINT-II scheme, we designed and developed a Climate Control Unit (a Patent has been granted) for the storage and processing of farm perishables (fruits and vegetables) solely powered using renewable energy (biomass gasification and solar). We also work on various adsorption composite pairs to improve the performance and reliability of the adsorption refrigeration systems for off-the-grid cold storage. We also worked on the Water Technology Initiative (WTI project) and designed and developed a novel atmospheric water harvester, especially for arid climates (a patent has been granted).
