About Sunil Ramkillawan

I joined Thebe in May and served in various key positions within Thebe over the past 23 years. I am currently the Chief Executive Officer of Thebe Energy and Resources. My passion is business and as a result, I have extensive experience in business, finance, corporate finance, investment management and I’ve held several directorships of investee companies throughout my tenure at Thebe. This includes directorships across various industries (Mining and Resources, Oil & Products Trading, Mining Support and Supplies, Media, Food Services & Support Solutions, Engineering and Insurance) During my tenor at Thebe, I’ve been part of the management team that has delivered exceptional returns to shareholders since 2001. Leading the Energy & Resources division has allowed me to be a catalyst towards instilling a value-adding mindset for our investee companies across all facets of our businesses. I hold a Chartered Accountant CA (SA) qualification from SIACA and an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). I also attended an Innovation: Strategies for Creating Value course at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in the US. Thebe Investment Corporation (TIC) is a black owned investment management company founded in July 1992. Thebe opened its doors with an initial capital injection of R100 and an objective to assist the country to fast-track transformation deals. Thebe has grown to become one of the leading diversified investment companies in South Africa. Thebe’s investment footprint spans across a wide spectrum of key sectors such as Petrochemicals, Power and Infrastructure, Business Services, Food, Agro-processing and Agriculture as well as Media and Telecommunications. These are sectors strategically regarded as the backbone in efforts to stimulate the economy.
