About Sunitha Arun

I am Mrs. Sunitha Arun, the founder, and ideator of Art Mission. Contrary to popular beliefs, I would not call myself a born artist. I started off my professional journey as a preschool teacher who was ever passionate about teaching children. Thanks to Mrs. Tahmina Barker, principal of Small World, who was definitely my chaperone in finding my creative side. Both my children, Sachin and Shaina would excel at drawing during their schooling days. I enrolled Sachin in a premium art class in Indiranagar to promote his capabilities. However, by being bombarded by too many technicalities, Sachin lost interest in art. In Shaina’s case, she was enrolled in art classes with a low profile, albeit a super crowded class, making her feel lost in the crowd. That is what spurred me to start an art class of my own for children. I began this pursuit by taking up a professional art certification course at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, a pioneer institute. I created my own methodologies and tried them first with my daughter, resulting in her excelling at all school-level competitions. During the period 2011 to 2013, over 90% of my students were featured in the kids’ corner section of a local newspaper, CitiPlus. My art classes were an instant hit, and with more and more kids pouring in, I had to move into a bigger space.2 years later, to cater to the growing demand, I began art classes and art camps in 6 centers by employing a franchise model. ​Post this, I wanted my high-quality art education to reach all kids and hence encapsulated all my learnings and knowledge into a book. The book is finally here. I am proud to present to you, Art Mission. Hope you enjoy the brainchild of my dedication, experience, and most importantly, love through Art Mission.
