About Supriyo Mitra

I am a senior developer with over 15 years of experience in the field of software development. My interests lie in architecting solutions using open source software. I have worked in a large variety of organizations, and this has made me knowledgeable in various technologies. My core skills are the scripting languages - perl, python, php (on server side) and javascript (client side). My secondary skills include compiled languages (C/C++) and databases (mysql, postgres, and a little experience in oracle). Frameworks in which I have a good working knowledge are Django (for python web development), modperl, CGI (for perl web development), various web server softwares like Apache, uwsgi, nginx, Apache Tomcat (for web development using JSP and java servlets). Apart from these, I have also worked on and used message queues (rabbitmq), documentation softwares like sphinx, threads and process creation and manipulation libraries, UI creation libraries like Wx (wxpython), Tk (perl/Tk), socket programming (in C/C++), data handling with HTTP(s) protocol, certain design patterns like MVC, factory pattern, singleton pattern, etc, OCR libraries and APIs like gocr, tesseract, Abbyy and ocrad, PDF creation and manipulation libraries like PDFTk and pisa (for python), markup languages like HTML, XML etc, and integration of various softwares to create a coherent usable system.
