What existed long before ChatGPT? Chat GP-Me! At the age of 12 I started to learn web development to support a family business, learning HTML, CSS, and PHP. I learned young. and fast. Not much has changed in 20 years! Most kids that age, including myself, just wanted to have the coolest myspace profile - but there was something really magical about learning LAMP administration before I even had a shot at a driver's license. I've worn many hats- I became a computational chemist, I had a great time using words like "spintronics" which made me seem a lot smarter than I was- I was a machinist for an electrochemical laboratory, learning the pure joy of designing and building useful physical objects that nobody ended up using;)- I took on a job as a pool technician because I loved working with my hands in the sun- I was a high school teacher, where I brought the joy of chemistry and computation to > students- I got a higher degree - while teaching to boot! I learned about overcoming self doubt in that process, and it allowed me to change my track- I used that degree and experience to break into the world of tech; I worked my way up and learned the ropes of people management, and carried that energy forward into doing whatever needed to be done. In tech we often focus on value - but without imbuing our own values into what we build, one can only bring about what is valueless. To truly offer something real and beneficial to the world, it requires an engineer to be responsible for the power that comes from scale. If you want to join forces with me, I ask that you simply remember: I am a person who listens, I am a person who cares. I am a person who will do whatever they have to do, to do the right thing; to solve the problem worth solving; the job worth doing.
