About Surendra Sharma

As I have both academic and administrative experience of thirty three years in different capacities as Associate Professor of Economics, Regional Director of Indira Gandhi National Open University at Patna, Additional Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Council, and as Officiating Principal of Government Girls’ Post Graduate College, Ghazipur, I feel very confident that I shall be able to acquit successfully any responsibility that would be shouldered to me. A cursory glance at my CV would indicate that I have a very sound background of science, social science, humanity, and distance education that would help me in coordinating any academic activity. As an institutional head, the prime responsibility is to provide an enabling environment not only to students, but also to faculty and office staff for optimization of their talents in fulfilling the objectives of the nation building. I have the experience of organizing a number of training programmes and seminars on emerging national themes that would help conduct brain storming sessions for students and teachers. I have many quality research papers and two books (ISBN) to my credit. I have convened national seminars at NIAS (National Institute of Advanced Study, Bangalore) and IIAS (Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla) by virtue of being associates at these national institutes which are IUC (Inter University Centres of UGC). Four research scholars under my supervision have been awarded PhD in Economics by the Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. I was the convener of RDC (Research Degree Committee) and BoS (Board of Studies) of VBS Purvanchal University, Jaunpur. I have also developed course curriculum of six months’ Pre-PhD course of Economics as convener of RDC at Purvanchal University. I look forward to serve the nation in a broader perspective.
