About Suruchi Sharma

Hi, I am Suruchi. I am Instructor in the field of teacher training and have an extensive experience in teaching Bachelor of Education courses. Working as a teacher educator, I was teaching a number of university courses to undergraduate and graduate students. My objective was to encourage my students to develop their own learning interests and critical thinking, so as to establish a learner-centered environment in the classroom. My teaching philosophy revolves around inquiry based and cooperative learning. The use of technology and computer based material to have a blended learning have always been an integral part of my teaching to achieve the goals of learning. I have also served as a faculty member in the advisory committee for Pedagogy of Sciences courses I have also held the position of Coordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Committee in the college for more than two years in which I have worked to design and implement the annual Plans for Institution-level activities for quality enhancement. Development and application of some innovative practices like team teaching and blended learning related to teacher education courses was also one of the achievements which lead to quality enhancement. Working in this post has also made me aware of teaching an ethnically and culturally diverse group of students. The ability to connect with the students has also given me the opportunity to be a part of Guidance and Placement cell for a year to provide support to the students on various academic issues. I have also been a member of event management team in the college. Specifically, two years ago I coordinated and planned a campaign to increase and support women in education. The turned out was larger than expected and in that academic year we managed to have more women attending the college than in previous years. I am a huge advocate of education for all and I strive to support and engage students in their learning endeavor. Also, I have also organized workshops for the learners to help them to gain knowledge and develop skills. I have facilitated the organization of various cultural and annual events in the institution that increased the social interaction of the students with each other and also helped them adjust in the new surroundings.
