About Suryasree Roychowdhury

I am a passionate R&D automotive product engineer with a year shy of a decade of experience, including building & troubleshooting field issues in Propeller Shafts and Axles in CV, and Front and Rear Members in cars. I also had dabbled 4+ years in building a business from scratch which was incubated by Nasscom startup and a part of MIT Sloan Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp 2016 batch.While my dabble with entrepreneurship took me close to building a business evaluated at 6.4crores, COVID fueled with my passion for engineering and travel brought me back to the field of automobiles wanting to solve the question, how can we make transport safe, accessible, and economical and most - importantly sustainable.With that goal in mind, I am, currently, in Volvo Trucks India as Senior Mechanical Engineer focusing on Propeller Shaft. I had previously worked in Daimler India Commercial Vehicle Pvt Ltd as a Senior Manager R&D Product Engineering focusing on Propeller Shaft and Rear Axle. Before this I worked in the Front axle and Rear Axle where I helped and successfully launched 3 new products, and filed 2 separate patents that is already implemented & running in the field.I have contributed to and ascertained, digitally, the fatigue life prediction of the products, and my role also involves ensuring the functionality and the first principles of all the designs released.Thanks to my startup and internal TS auditor experience in my first company, I am big believer in standardization, documentation & Automation. I am also in process of learning python & excel macros to enable me in the same.When I am not working, I love rock climbing, running in half marathons, and mountaineering. It is my personal goal to be a certified mountaineer by 2025.
