I have this theory that my calling in administration arose from a childhood love of the family road trip. Being a navigator, the first thing my Dad taught me was how to read a road map, with a natural evolution to figuring out the entire trip planning process- Name the destination - Research and plan for the known factors in reaching that destination; anticipate unknown factors - Hit the road - with a sense of adventure and the ability to create Plan B as needed to keep on track - Enjoy the thrill of experiencing something new, and the satisfaction of a successful trip. Now I take particular delight in translating larger context goals into detailed tasks, budgets and timelines in order to take any endeavor from concept to finish. From a variety of Research Coordinator, Manager and Administrator roles in higher education, I bring to the table- 10+ years of grants & contracts management, pre-award to close-out with no missed deadlines or cost overruns - 10+ years of financial management of funding portfolios ranging from $1.2 million to $37 million - 10+ years of team, project and program management and leadership I’ve covered varied terrain: • Served as department Administrator for a University Affiliated Research Center, managing grants and contracts for oceanographers, cyber-security experts, mathematicians, chemists and social psychologists • Coordinated a 5-year prospective study of noise and hearing loss in the construction industry, partnering with eleven union apprenticeship training programs to carry out the research • Managed a federally-funded training grant supporting occupational health students in nine programs in the Schools of Public Health, Medicine and Nursing, all serving the four-state Region X area • Served as founding Administrator for a unique state, university and philanthropic partnership aimed at improving state child welfare outcomes Ready for the next road trip?
