About Susan Crane

Summary of Experience I am a senior leader with over 30 years’ experience in the UK charity, international development, higher education, research and NHS sectors, currently seeking to return to senior management in the charity sector. At age 25 I established and grew a UK international health NGO for 14 years, devising multiple innovative health programmes with hard to reach groups in over 25 developing countries. I then worked for several years as a freelance consultant in global health. In 2009, I became Deputy Director of a large academic department directing more than £15M of research grant funding in over 20 developing countries at the UCL Institute for Global Health. My most recent role involved delivering NHS service improvement research and evaluation, together with commissioning an informatics tool to get better data on children & young people in London. I have experience taking a leading role in organisational development, change management, finance, programme delivery, and extensive expertise in distance management of staff in the UK and around the globe. Since 2009 I have taught a few times each year at UCL on MSc global health management and gender. I’m now a UCL Honorary Lecturer, Board Trustee of a national and a local organisation and an active volunteer for 2 groups.
