I love working with people and making a difference. Starting in admissions and social service work – where people in crisis or those who don’t know where to look for help go – I quickly learned how close to the heart it is for those seeking help in taking care of their family members; hoping for a safe haven they can trust that also provides comfort and options. This early influence was the foundation of my commitment to establishing high standards and a holistic and human-centered approach to all my work throughout a 45-year career. When I came to Kentmere Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing, I knew I was in the right place. As administrator, with active licenses in Delaware and Pennsylvania, I lead a team of talented, dedicated and compassionate senior-care and rehabilitation professionals who treat our residents like family. We believe in a continuum of care that addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual approach to health and wellness. Patients are usually referred here by a hospital because they aren’t expected to do well or are already not doing well. Once they get here, our team rallies around that new resident, trying to figure out why they aren’t thriving and what is hindering their recovery. Perhaps they are on the wrong medication or there’s a level of “touch” that needs to be increased. Then, seeing them progress when no one thought they would, there’s the magic of the Kentmere team. We look at this person as an individual, involve their family, and dedicate the necessary time and support they need – that’s the depth of care that Kentmere provides. And the whole team loves that challenge. It’s one thing to build the framework and put the structure and system in place, but I know it’s all “working” when I see the smile on a resident’s face that comes from the actions of our team.
