Curators' Distinguished Professor of Economics Emeritus, University of Missouri-St. Louis, 2018- Professor and Chair, Department of Economics, University of Missouri-St. Louis, 1988-2018 Associate Professor of Economics, Claremont McKenna College and Graduate School, 1979-1986 (1st woman to be tenured in Department of Economics) Chief of Methodology Development, Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission, 1986-1988 Author of numerous peer-reviewed articles in prominent economics- and public policy journals focused on public versus private provision of goods and services; cost structures in medical care; and the performance of nonprofit organizations. Recipient of several competitive National Science Foundation research and curricular grants, including an Innovation in Curriculum grant to attract women and minorities into Economics. This latter grant funded the publication of my Principles of Economics textbook (co-authored with R. Hafer) entitled "Principles of Economics: The Way We Live."(McMillan, 2014). Consultant for the World Bank on pharmaceutical production and distribution in less developed countries. Consultant to the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank on design of new interactive guest reception/educational area. Winner of the St. Louis "Women Of Influence" Chanel Award in 1996; and the Chancellor's and Governor's Awards for Excellence in Teaching.
