About Susan J.

I have been a dedicated professional secondary educator for over thirty years, most of them with the Phoenix Union High School District as an ESL teacher, English Teacher, and Library Media Specialist. This people-oriented career path enabled me to showcase my organizational and communication skills to foster literacy and lifelong learning. As an educator, I honed my organizational skills to plan and revise lesson plans for diverse learning abilities and styles and restructure the entire library at my former school. Every day, I developed my communication skills to interact effectively with school administration, teachers, students, and parents. Being a teacher-librarian during the pandemic closures and times of hybrid learning, I learned about resilience and tenacity on a level I never knew I possessed. I have retired from my career in education, but I intend to reenter the workforce refreshed after a summer break. With the knowledge that the skills I developed as an educator are highly transferable, I will be looking at entry-level opportunities to learn a new field. I am taking classes for personal enjoyment and enrichment and I am starting to see what opportunities are available in the current semi-post-pandemic world. As a lifelong reader and learner, I am looking forward to learning new things, staying productive and continuing to serve humanity. Currently working as a public library page, part time, but I am looking for more opportunities to apply my skills.
