About Susan Kilonzo

Susan Kilonzo holds a Masters and Doctoral degree in Sociology of Religion from Maseno University. She has also held a number of postgraduate certificates from professional trainings, including Multi Method Research Course, Case Study Teaching, Alternative Pedagogical Approaches, Peace Research, Gender Research, among many. She has been awarded research fellowships in various institutions including: The Open University, Milton Keynes, UK; New Europe College, Bucharest; University for Peace (UPEACE-AP), and, New York Theological Seminary, NY. Susan’s research interest in Role of Religion in Community Development; Peace and Conflict Resolution; and Higher Education. Her research has yielded publications in form of book chapters and journal articles. Her research findings appear in Blackwell Publishing Ltd, Brill, CODESRIA, OSSREA, UDIUNC & SEPHIS, Routledge, among others. She has authored about 40 journal articles appearing in International peer reviewed journals such as Journal of Public Affairs Education 2016, Vol. 22, No.3; International Journal of Sociology, Vol. 43, Number 1 / Spring 2013; Journal of Peacebuilding and Development, Vol. 6, No. 2011; Journal of Conflict Transformation & Security, Vol. 1, No. 1, 2011; Journal of Identity, Culture and Politics: An Afro-Asian Dialogue, Vol.11, Number 1, 2010; Studies in Contemporary Culture, Vol. 10, No. 1, 2010, among others. Some of her community development research strongly reflect her interest in gender issues. She recently developed Gender Training Modules (on Gender and Social Vulnerability) for Higher Institutions in sub-Saharan Africa for OSSREA. Susan is a research methodology specialist, and has trained professionals from across African countries on the same.
