About Susan May

Every student has a story. That’s what I’ve found out throughout the years as I've developed my career in higher education marketing. And during that time, as I've gone from editorial coordinator to public relations specialist to marketing director to communications business owner, I continue to be passionate about using the positive experiences of students to promote the importance of education. Over the years, I've used my communication skills to touch lives by promoting higher education primarily in inner-city community colleges where a pathway to education is needed the most. I’ve told stories in the media, in newsletters, in alumni magazines, in brochures, and in ads. I’ve promoted academic and career programs, created an adult education program and a summer career camp for teens, designed and maintained a college website, created and maintained social media platforms, and developed advertising campaigns that were splashed on billboards, buses, and in BART stations. Then I came full circle and created my own business. In this role, I've used my years of experience to consult with colleges in planning effective communication strategies by telling their stories to both enhance the image of their institutions, increase their enrollment and retention, and better the lives of their communities.
