About Susan McCulloch

Art writer, art book publisher, curator and commentator on visual arts, Susan McCulloch is co director, with her daughter, Emily McCulloch Childs, of the art company McCulloch & McCulloch and Everywhen Artspace at Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula. She is co author and publisher of McCulloch’s Encyclopedia of Australian Art and McCulloch’s Contemporary Aboriginal Art: the complete guide as well as other books on Australian art – including those in partnership with collectors, arts centres, and government art funding agencies. Book publisher since 1978, combined with writing on the arts for Australia’s leading press including as The Australian’s visual arts writer 1994-2003 and its national art critic 2003-2004. An art consultant, Susan advises on individual purchases or collection management for individuals, private and corporate collections and a curator of exhibitions for public and private galleries, a judge of major art prizes, speaker and commentator. Everywhen Artspace represents the work of artists from more than 40 not for profit Aboriginal-owned art centres around Australia and presents regular exhibitions of their work. In January 2011 Susan received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to the arts for writing and publishing. In 2013 she was appointed Adjunct Professor, College of Design & Social Context, RMIT University and is also Patron of the Friends of Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery.
