About Susan Rockey

As a Business Development professional with 17 years of experience in the City of Barrie's Economic Development Department, I possess expertise in investment attraction, business retention strategies, and industrial/commercial real estate site selection. I am well-versed in navigating complex development processes and have led numerous marketing and communication initiatives, including content creation for newspapers, websites, and other publications. My experience extends to delivering presentations, planning large-scale events, and creating supporting marketing collateral. Before joining the City of Barrie, I held key fundraising roles, including Advancement Coordinator at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) and Corporate Development Officer for the CNIB, managing corporate, service club, and foundation portfolios across Central Ontario. At CCNM, in addition to my fundraising role, I co-developed and facilitated workshops for HR managers alongside naturopathic doctors, focusing on implementing corporate wellness programs. I hold an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University, along with post-graduate certificates in Corporate Wellness and Health Promotion (Centennial College) and Corporate Communications (Seneca College). I also have a Certificate in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo.
