About Susan Rosenberg

With decades of experience in working in museums-and as the creator of six new academic programs at St. John's University-I have nurtured student's professional success as Founding Director of the university's M.A. Museum Administration program and as a Professor of Art History, while also thriving as an internationally-known scholar. Harnessing a blend of scholarly expertise and practical leadership, the program I direct cultivates an environment that values diversity, effective communication, and insightful writing. We foster a learning space where multiple perspectives are welcomed and now have an established reputation for training students from diverse backgrounds to succeed working in the museum field and in related cultural institutions. The competencies I developed through these roles, alongside professional development experiences,(which include my role as an international fellow in Art & Law program and as an invited participant in the Aspen Institute's Seminar on Strategy for Artist-Endowed Foundations), propel my continual search for new challenges through which to innovate and grow my career, drawing on my past experience as a museum curator, my wide-ranging knowledge of art history, and my established record of introducing a new generation to the many professionals opportunities that exist in the dynamic field of museums.
