About Susan Stuck

I have been in the administrative field since I graduated from Boise State University in 1984 with a Certificate of Completion: Secretarial Services. One month later, I was hired on as a word processing trainee at Boise Cascade Corporation in Boise, Idaho, moving up to senior word processing specialist. I worked on a multitude of projects, from one-page handwritten letters for the Sales Departments to a 30-50 page Executive Review of Operations for the Executive Team, to numerous presentations and slide shows. From there, I became an executive assistant for the Financial Reporting Department at Boise Cascade. I was hired, not because of my accounting skills, but, rather, my word processing skills, because I was needed to type, edit, and proofread financial documents such as 10Ks, 10Qs, annual reports, and earnings releases, which I then disseminated to the New York Stock Exchange, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and First Call newswire. Although my background has always been in the administrative field, my true passion is writing. This I inherited from my grandfather, Paul Flinn, who was a columnist and historian for the “Bonners Ferry Herald” in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. In addition, my mother had a brief stint with the "Cottonwood Chronicle" in Cottonwood, Idaho. Writing is in my blood, and I am currently writing a coming-of-age novel set in the early to mid ‘70s, post-Vietnam. I love to write, and I utilize my writing ability in all aspects of my job, whether it’s writing or proofreading a financial report, letter, or memo. I can barely add two digits in my head, but I love working with words. I get it from Grandpa.
