About Susanna Barr

With a strong foundation in athletics and leadership from Reinhardt University and Kennesaw State University, I've channeled my passion for teamwork and community service into a meaningful career in the nonprofit sector. My varied experiences have uniquely equipped me to address the needs of vulnerable communities with empathy and efficiency. At Solomon's Temple, a homeless shelter for women and children, I managed daily operations for 75 residents, honing my organizational skills and deepening my understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness. My journey continued at Shepherd's Staff Ministries, where I served as a Summer Intern at this food bank. In addition to client intake, needs assessment, and volunteer coordination, I spearheaded a focus group and hosted a study on Diversity and Inclusion in Walton County, reinforcing my commitment to fostering inclusive communities. At Team Up Mentoring, I began as a Summer Camp Facilitator, spending two summers working directly with children who are survivors of trauma. This experience allowed me to gain expertise in trauma-based care and social-emotional learning, crucial for supporting these children with compassion. Now, as a full-time Development Specialist, I apply my operational and mentorship skills to a range of responsibilities, including event planning, stewardship, and report building, while continuing to engage directly with students. Beyond my nonprofit work, I am passionate about coaching volleyball. I've guided players from ages 8 to 18 across recreational, club, and school teams, focusing on both skill development and character building. I am committed to leveraging my diverse experiences to continue making a meaningful impact, both in my current role and in the broader community.
