About Susannah Halsey

My experience in healthcare and my passion to continue to work in healthcare are all driven by one thing: achieving equitable healthcare for all. I graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University in December 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a minor in Substance Abuse and Addiction. I recently obtained my Chemical Dependency Counseling Assistant licensure (CDCA- PRE). As someone driven to provide and protect equitable healthcare, I ran and was elected Director of Philanthropy with Alpha Omicron Pi Women’s Fraternity. I redeveloped the relationship between our fraternity and The Arthritis Foundation. The Arthritis Foundation provides resources and opportunities to the leading cause of disability in the United States. We were able to support the Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run which raises money for arthritis treatment and research for a cure. Currently, I am the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center Ross Heart Hospital’s Case Management Extender. One of my responsibilities is reminding Medicare patients for their right to advocate in their treatment and discharge. I inform the patients of the Medicare Right to appeal a discharge should the patient not believe they are ready to discharge. This opportunity to remind the patients of their rights allows them to be an active participant in their treatment at OSUWMC. My aspirations are to work with protecting vulnerable populations through operational day to day activities in a hospital system. Hospital systems are gifted an incredible opportunity to care for everyone, and it is crucial that hospitals take this opportunity to provide for the vulnerable patients who need the help the most.
