About Susannah Hansel

Susannah Hansel has been dancing for 26 years, cross training in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, hip-hop, contemporary and musical theatre. She began her studies in Moreno Valley at California Dancer. In 2009, she furthered her training at Jimmie Defore Dance Center where she closely worked and performed with Leann Alduenda. Susannah continued her tap education by taking several classes throughout Orange County and LA County with Linda Sohl-Ellison, Leah Silva, Lacey Yell, Jason Samuel Smith, and Chloe Arnold. In 2012, Susannah’s tap piece was selected as one of the twenty-one finalists in the Open Call showcase held at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert. In 2017, she became a member of the professional tap company Tap Overload directed by Gabe and Mindy Copeland. Susannah has been teaching dance for over 10 years in pre-ballet, pre-jazz, lyrical, jazz, contemporary, tap, and musical theatre. Her specialties are in tap and musical theatre. For the past 7 years Susannah she created a 20-minute musical theatre production in Moreno Valley, California. Susannah has been choreographing routines for competitions for 9 years. She has won judges and choreography awards. In January 2017, she began teaching private lessons and group classes in Pilates. Susannah attended Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa, California where she obtained her AAT in Theatre Arts emphasis in musical performance. She was chosen as an actor, singer, and dancer in numerous plays at the college. Her choreography was also selected for three shows. Susannah attended Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California where she attained her Pilates/Dance Conditioning Certificate of Achievement, Dance Instructors Certificate of Specialization, and AA in Dance in July 2017. In 2020, Susannah graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University, St. Paul. Additionally, she obtained the Youth Exercise Specialization certificate from NASM in 2021. Most recently, Susannah graduated summa cum laude with her Master’s in Kinesiology with a focus on Exercise Physiology at Concordia University, St. Paul in December 2022. Susannah completed the Inclusion Training with Rhythm Works to effectively teach students who are neurodivergent or physically limited.
