About Sushil Ramola
I am a social entrepreneur and civil society volunteer with a deep connection with the mountains. I was born in Uttarakhand and grew up in Shimla. For my entire working life, the last 44 years, I have learnt by doing, in three overlapping phases - the first happened due to my father’s expectations and my education – leading to a 30 year career in industry in India and overseas. The second phase emerged from asking myself the question – 'what will bring me joy and be useful to the world'- leading to social entrepreneurship, specifically in skilling (B-ABLE) and community-led tourism (DueNorth) to serve the less educated and less privileged. The third and current phase consists of civil society initiatives where I serve as co-founder, board member, mentor or volunteer. Some of the organizations I am currently engaged with are Venu Eye Hospital and Research Centre, Integrated Mountain Initiative, Blind Relief Association, SRIJAN, Alliance of Skill Training Partners and Domestic Workers Sector Skill Council.
