About Susie Thorn

My experience with opening a new school library, mentoring new elementary librarians, revising and updating district policies, creating new and exciting reading programs as well as analyzing information statistics make me an ideal candidate to support school library professionals. I have had the distinct honor to work at the campus and district level on various committees whilst making presentations on Instructional Leadership Department, Copyright Infringement, Differentiating Instruction, Collaborative Planning, Curriculum Mapping, and the Alignment of Content Standards for Libraries. My most proud accomplishments include authoring a Five-Year Strategic Plan for Libraries in the district along with being the first librarian to create a District Library Policy to be adopted and implemented district wide. I have a Master of Science in Library and Information Science and hold the following professional educational certifications: education administration certification with my Principal (EE-12) certification not to mention Learning Resources (PK-12), ESL (PK-6), Early Childhood (PK-KG), and Elementary Self-Contained (PK-6) certifications. For the past eleven years, I have had the distinct pleasure to stay home with our daughter after she was born. Last summer, we moved back to Houston after living in Australia and most recently in Florida for my husband’s job. We have moved four times in the past eight years and our family is beyond thrilled that our recent move to Houston is permanent. I am beyond eager to professionally persevere in Library and Information Science once again.
