About Susmit Mhatre

A graduate student who is passionate about science and research. I currently use a glaucomatous rabbit model to evaluate the hypotensive and neuroprotective role of novel hydrogen sulfide donors. I then take suitable donors and formulate sustained release drug delivery systems for topical and subconjunctival applications. Previously, I have worked on a couple of projects, one that required extensive computational modelling for drug discovery and other that was based on development and characterization of a nanosuspension. I am fascinated by how a disease condition can be treated if the relevant regulatory pathways are intervened and manipulated using biomolecules and small molecules. For the sake of that, I am looking forward to projects that involve understanding the fundamentals of a disease pathophysiology and explore cellular targets to develop an effective therapeutic strategy. More recently, I have been interested in the translation of endogenous cells (like iPSCs), genes and RNAs, and engineered cells (like CAR-T) in management of diseases.
