Background
About Suzann Odonovan
I completed the Bachelor of Corporate Law (International) at National University of Ireland, Galway. Some subject examples are company law, EU law, contract law, information technology law, labour law, management of organisational change and employment relations. As part of this degree, I went on erasmus to France for the academic year 2010/2011. During this year, I studied and obtained le Diplôme d’Etudes de l’Union Européenne,(Diploma in Studies of the European Union). This was awarded by l'Universite de Toulouse 1, Capitole. I completed the M.Sc in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management at NUI Galway in July 2013. I studied a broad and diverse range of subjects relating to the HR field. Examples are People Management and Development, Employee Relations, Human Resource Development, Rewards Systems, Industrial Relations and Employment Law, and European Labour Markets (at the Toulouse Business School). I completed a thesis entitled 'The Return to Work Experience after Long-Term Leave: An Exploration into its Impact upon Employee Motivation within the HSE.' I am currently working as a Pensions Administrator with Aon. I work as part of a supportive team to ensure that we deliver the best and most efficient service to pension scheme members. We are responsible for administration on a member level; some examples are: answering member queries, issue paperwork to members, process leavers and joiners to pension schemes, and manage Pension Adjustment Orders. To further develop my skills and professional development in my current role, I am studying for the Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA) accreditation. Previous to this, I worked as a clerical officer with the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS). I was responsible for promoting the Mobile Blood Donor clinics and handling donor queries. Time management was essential in this position as some tasks are more urgent than others. Before my time with the IBTS, I worked as a clerical officer in the Medical Records Department of University Hospital Galway. I worked as part of a team to ensure that patient charts are accounted for before the start of daily outpatient clinics. Communication with the team and across departments was an essential part of achieving this. I also worked as a HR assistant in UHG; I provided general support to the HR manager and wider department. The main areas of responsibility were absence management and learning and development.
