Background
About Suzanne Cook
Working strategically within Organizational Development (OD), I am a passionate and skilled learning, training and development leader who identifies gaps and solves problems to meet business priorities. I design programs that increase knowledge and skill to help people thrive in an ever-changing environment. I'm creative and challenge driven. My work supports change, transformation and growth and my projects enhance Talent Management and OD. As a learning expert, I embrace technology and scan trends for innovations in the field. Learning and continuous improvement are critical for organizations to meet client demands. I create learner-focused engaging programs including virtual, on-demand e-modules and in-person training. I have a rare ability to be detail-oriented while seeing the bigger picture at the same time, enabling me to connect learning and development to strategic goals. My work is interdisciplinary. I have also worked in many industries and business sectors which gives me a broad perspective when creating leading-edge programs. I travel extensively. I have lived and worked in four different countries and visited six of the seven continents. I value community and mentor youth. I'm a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Brampton. As I embrace learning, I am also a Toastmaster. In the career development field, I spearheaded the Redirection Project, a national CERIC-funded research initiative. I provided valuable skill development to professionals so they could be more effective. As a consultant and educator, I established Carpe Vitam to conduct research, training and consulting in my areas of specialty. I coined the term Redirection to refer to a new stage of career (Cook, 2015; 2016). Redirection focuses on transition and reinvention through second careers, lateral moves, community engagement, and other ways to re-engage. Career development is lifelong. Are you ready for a change? What’s your next challenge?
