Background
About Suzanne Doyle
Currently I lecture on the BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics course, a programme delivered by TU Dublin and TCD. I deliver modules across all 4 years of the programme in a variety of topics including food studies, nutrition through the life cycle, dietetic management of acute and chronic disease, clinical skills, communication and behaviour change skills, professional practice studies and research skills. In addition, I contribute to teaching on the BSc Public Health Nutrition programme. My main areas of clinical research relate to the optimisation of nutritional and functional status in cancer patients during and after curative treatment. As a post-doctoral researcher with Trinity College, I secured HRB funding to conduct a multidisciplinary research project targeting the rehabilitation of oesophageal cancer survivors. I completed my PhD studies in August 2013 entitled "Oesophageal cancer: association with visceral obesity and optimisation of postoperative outcomes". In addition, I have worked on a clinical trial investigating the impact of EPA supplemented feed on postoperative inflammation and long term outcomes following oesophagectomy. I have published several peer reviewed articles and have presented my work nationally and internationally and was named Research Dietetian of the Year in 2015 As a dietititan, I was based in St. James's Hospital where I gained experience with a variety of patient types including surgery, oncology, upper GI, ENT, geriatric, endocrine, orthopaedic and vascular patients. I completed my BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in 2008 and graduated first in my class, receiving a gold medal from Trinity College Dublin for academic achievement. Following graduation, I secured an IRSCET scholarship and commenced my PhD studies within the Department of Surgery at St. James's Hospital/Trinity College Dublin
