About Suzanne Erasmus

Suzanne Erasmus is a Senior Lecturer in Critical Studies at Greenside Design Center, College of Design, where she has lectured full-time since 2011 whilst raising her son. Suzanne participated in various solo and group exhibitions. Prior to her teaching career, Suzanne worked in the art industry, taught part-time, and was involved in multiple community art programmes. She has a robust academic background providing her with a critical and systematic approach to her work. Her interest in project-based work honed her skills to work closely with all participants and stakeholders on projects. After graduating from UCT in Fine Art Suzanne worked in the South African art industry, starting at Camouflage Gallery in Johannesburg alongside Clive Kellner. She held a managerial position at the Artist Proof Studios (NPO) for four years, managing the professional printmaking studio and gallery, writing and implementing their business plan and ensuring artists and printmakers produce successful projects; she worked as publishing co-ordinator on various art publications such as the TAXI Art Book Series (David Krut Publishing); worked as co-ordinator for community arts initiatives such as Phumani Paper. Suzanne is a participant of the Master of Art in the Public Sphere (MAPS) programme, an exchange programme between the Ecole Cantonale d’Art du Valais (ECAV) in Sierre, Switzerland, and the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. SKILLS Suzanne thinks critically and laterally when approached with new and ongoing projects and is able to problem solve issues from this position. Her experience as a lecturer, teacher, and instructor provided Suzanne with vast experience in communicating complex concepts in clear, simple, and straightforward ways. Years of studying and practising art have provided Suzanne with a good eye for combining art and design elements and communicating visually in a clear and aesthetic manner. She thrives when applying herself in new and innovative ways where she is able to use her skills and grow her wealth of knowledge. Suzanne is a creative person who loves to ideate new projects, being systematic in her approach. She has an eye for detail and immerses herself completely in each project. Suzanne has excellent writing, proof-reading and editing skills with the ability to research topics in-depth.
