About Suzanne Gudgeon

Banking was never on my original roadmap. In fact, it was far from it. I always enjoyed a sense of creativity and helping others. However, I soon learnt that every business is a complex maze and offers diverse and amazing opportunities. So, my journey began in Banking with RBS, Midland and then HSBC in the UK. In 2004, I took a risk and decided I wanted to start over again in a different country. Whether it would be a 2-year adventure or longer who would know? Eighteen years later I am still here in beautiful New Zealand.Coming to New Zealand and joining BNZ felt like coming home, it was a perfect fit, and I am grateful for the opportunities it provides me. Of course, it takes more than luck, it takes handwork and challenging yourself to do better each day. I really enjoy the people I work with and being an authentic leader where I can be true to myself. I challenge myself and others to put ourselves in the view of the customer, our business and suppliers when making decisions.For me a career shouldn't feel like a job, it should feel like it’s part of you, challenging, rewarding and helps you get up each day to be the best you can.
